Tucson Gem and Mineral Show The largest, oldest and most prestigious gem and mineral show in the world started in 1955. There are usually over 250 vendors, and they have museum-class minerals, High-quality Jewelry, Gemstones, Rare minerals, and Priceless stones. Each vendor has a gorgeous mineral collection in their showcase. This show takes place in late January and February at multiple locations across the city.  

 

San Xavier Del Bac MissionA National Historic Landmark, San Xavier Mission was founded as a Catholic mission by Father Eusebio Kino in 1692. Construction of the current church began in 1783 and was completed in 1797. Open year round. 

 

Sabino Canyon Recreation Area– One of the premier natural areas in southern Arizona, is located at the base of the Santa Catalina Mountains.  Come to Sabino to see water in the desert. Between steep rock cliffs and unique desert vegetation you will find riparian corridors. You may even get lucky and view a Gila Monster, Bobcat, or other animals that are adapt to the 100 + degree summers and mild winters. The Sonoran desert has two rainy seasons: gentle winter rains and a dramatic summer monsoon. Due to winter’s snow melt and summer’s electrifying lightning storms, Sabino Creek flows almost year around.

 

Saguaro National MonumentHome to the nation’s largest cacti. The giant saguaro is the universal symbol of the American west. The 92,000-acre park consists of two separate areas—the Tucson Mountain District, about 10 miles west of Tucson, and the Rincon Mountain District, about 10 miles east of the city.
